This place, thanks to the different social networks, has become one of the activities to do for visitors to Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Mérida.
The municipality of Río Lagartos is home to “Las Coloradas” and they have just over 1500 inhabitants, many of whom are dedicated to the extraction of salt, tourism and fishing.
It should be noted that Las coloradas is the only pink lagoon in Mexico, however some of the visitors consider that the color is not uniform, shades of red, brown and pink are perceived.
It is also important to mention the sighting of pink flamingos residents of the area. During April to June it is very likely that you will observe some of these beautiful animals either flying or eating in the area.
Can I swim in las coloradas?
It is not possible to swim in these waters since the saline production extracted from this place is contaminated, so entering the lagoon is prohibited.
How to get to Las Coloradas from Playa del Carmen?
The best option to save time is to travel to the town of Valladolid, then take the road to Tizimín and then continue to Río Lagartos and finally reach Las Coloradas.
